« About Us | Membership Information & Fees » Dojo AffiliationISKA – (International Santen Karate Association) Founded in 1979 by Hanshi Vincent Cruz 9th dan. The ISKA’s mission is to improve the quality of karate training in the traditional arts. Cruz Sensei has been active in karate for over 50 years Within the ISKA there should be an honest and humble attitude, without false pride and pretension. Today modern karate mainly concentrates on the sporting arena and sporting achievements. We believe concentrating solely on the practice of karate for sporting competition is against the fundamental principles and beliefs of the Martial Art. Traditional karate is about defending your life when you are outnumbered, unarmed, and alone. It is not about winning trophies. Dedicated to researching and promoting the basic principles of linear karate power, which have all but disappeared in the sport karate world. This work is based on the lifelong research of Master Hidetaka Nishiyama. ENGLAND SHITO-RYU KARATE-DO KAI The England Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Kai (link) study the traditional Seito (orthodox/pure) Shito-Ryu Karate-Do, of Kenwa Mabuni (1889-1952), the founder of Shito-Ryu. The kata and techniques within the England Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Kai are alleged to be as authentic as those studied by Mabuni himself in the early part of the 20th century. The techniques interpreted by the head instructor, to his knowledge, have not been changed or modified in any way and the curriculum devised by Kenwa Mabuni in approx. 1929 is followed. The England Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Kai was established on September 23rd 2000 on the request of Soke Kenzo Mabuni. For the purpose of providing representation in the United Kingdom for the Shito-Ryu International Karate-Do Kai and the Nippon Karate-Do Kai under the presidency of Soke Kenzo Mabuni, to promote and preserve Seito Shito-Ryu Karate-Do. During 2004 a split occurred between the United Kingdom and Japanese groups and now England Shito-Ryu Karate-Do Kai is currently acting in an unofficial capacity. |
